223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.50.55

दूरादात्मज्ञता याति चित्ते पीवरतां गते ।
आलोकलक्ष्मीरभितो महामेघ इवोत्थिते ॥ ५५ ॥

dūrādātmajñatā yāti citte pīvaratāṃ gate |
ālokalakṣmīrabhito mahāmegha ivotthite || 55 ||

Spiritualism flies afar from the man, whose heart is hardened in this world; just as the glory of sunshine, is lost under the shadow of the thickening clouds in the sky.
