223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.48.63

वासनावलितं चेतः किं नामान्तर्न पश्यति ।
साधितं दृश्यते स्वप्ने वर्षसाध्यं प्रयोजनम् ॥ ६३ ॥

vāsanāvalitaṃ cetaḥ kiṃ nāmāntarna paśyati |
sādhitaṃ dṛśyate svapne varṣasādhyaṃ prayojanam || 63 ||

The mind infatuated by its hopes and desires sees everything before it, how far soever it may be removed from it; as one dreams of objects as present before him, which would take a whole year for him to reach at.
