The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

मन्त्रिणो नागरा नार्यस्ततस्ते तं महीपतिम् ।
नास्प्राक्षुरपि तिष्ठन्तं गृह एव शवं यथा ॥ २२ ॥

mantriṇo nāgarā nāryastataste taṃ mahīpatim |
nāsprākṣurapi tiṣṭhantaṃ gṛha eva śavaṃ yathā || 22 ||

The ministers, the ladies of the harem and all people of the city, refrained from touching his person, as they avoid the touch of a dead body lying in the house.
