The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

प्रसूतमथ शैलेषु पुत्रान्निजकुलाङ्कुरान् ।
अत्यन्तविषमोदन्तान्खदिरः कण्टकानिव ॥ १५ ॥

prasūtamatha śaileṣu putrānnijakulāṅkurān |
atyantaviṣamodantānkhadiraḥ kaṇṭakāniva || 15 ||

They begot many children as the offshoots of their race in the hilly region; and they were as rude and rough as the prickly thorns of the khadira plant.
