The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

क्रियते माधवादीनां प्रणयप्रार्थना स्वयम् ।
तथैव क्रियते कस्मान्न स्वकस्यैव चेतसः ॥ २५ ॥

kriyate mādhavādīnāṃ praṇayaprārthanā svayam |
tathaiva kriyate kasmānna svakasyaiva cetasaḥ || 25 ||

Men are eager to find favour in the sight of the gods (and great men); but they do not seek the favour of their hearts and minds.
