The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.43.17

न हरेर्न गुरोर्नार्थात्किंचिदासाद्यते महत् ।
आक्रान्तमनसः स्वस्माद्यदासादितमात्मनः ॥ १७ ॥

na harerna gurornārthātkiṃcidāsādyate mahat |
ākrāntamanasaḥ svasmādyadāsāditamātmanaḥ || 17 ||

It is in the power of the mind only to acquire anything good for one's self, and not the favour of Hari or that of Hara, or the influence of money, that is able to effect anything.
