पूर्वमेव बलात्तस्मादाक्रम्येन्द्रियपञ्चकम् ।
अभ्यसन्सर्वयत्नेन चित्तं कुरु विचारवत् ॥ १२ ॥

pūrvameva balāttasmādākramyendriyapañcakam |
abhyasansarvayatnena cittaṃ kuru vicāravat || 12 ||

Exert therefore your manliness at first, to keep the quintuple organs of sense under proper control;and habituate yourself with all diligence to cultivate your understanding, and the power of reasoning.
