The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.35.57

न पश्यामि नभोदीपे ज्वलिते तिमिरं यथा ।
तस्याहंकारयक्षस्य मनोविवरवासिनः ॥ ५७ ॥

na paśyāmi nabhodīpe jvalite timiraṃ yathā |
tasyāhaṃkārayakṣasya manovivaravāsinaḥ || 57 ||

The sight of the demoniac egoism dwelling in the cavity of my mind, disappears from my view in the like manner; as the shadow of darkness flies from the light of a lamp, and as the shade of night is dispersed by day light.
