Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.35.38

दुष्टात्मा मौर्ख्यमस्तीह न किंचित्केवले क्षतिः ।
न मे भोगस्थितौ वाञ्छा न च भोगविवर्जने ॥ ३८ ॥

duṣṭātmā maurkhyamastīha na kiṃcitkevale kṣatiḥ |
na me bhogasthitau vāñchā na ca bhogavivarjane || 38 ||

It is the wicked spirit, that is caught in ignorance; but the pure spirit has nothing to suffer: and I feel in myself neither the wish of my continuing in worldly enjoyments, nor a desire of forsaking them altogether. (I enjoy my life while it lasts).{GL_NOTE:73158:}
