The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.34.28

ब्रह्मविष्ण्विन्द्ररुद्राणां कारणानां जगत्स्थितौ ।
एतत्कारणमाद्यं तत्कारणं नास्य विद्यते ॥ २८ ॥

brahmaviṣṇvindrarudrāṇāṃ kāraṇānāṃ jagatsthitau |
etatkāraṇamādyaṃ tatkāraṇaṃ nāsya vidyate || 28 ||

The gods Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra and Indra, who are causes of the existence of the world, all owe their origin to this prime cause, who has no cause of himself.
