The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

श्रीभगवानुवाच ।
वरं गुणनिधे दैत्यकुलचूडामहामणे ।
गृहाणाभिमतं भूयो जन्म दुःखोपशान्तये ॥ १ ॥

śrībhagavānuvāca |
varaṃ guṇanidhe daityakulacūḍāmahāmaṇe |
gṛhāṇābhimataṃ bhūyo janma duḥkhopaśāntaye || 1 ||

The lord said:—O thou rich jewel on the crown of the Daitya race! Receive thy desired boon of me for alleviation of thy worldly afflictions.
