The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

पूर्वं यैरेव मत्तातश्चामरैरुपवीजितः ।
सहस्रनयनः स्वर्गे कष्टं तैरेव वीज्यते ॥ २१ ॥

pūrvaṃ yaireva mattātaścāmarairupavījitaḥ |
sahasranayanaḥ svarge kaṣṭaṃ taireva vījyate || 21 ||

O it is painful to think! that the attending damsels, that fanned my father with their chowry flappers, are now waiting upon the thousand-eyed Indra in their servile toil.
