The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.31.5

सबाह्याभ्यन्तरं कष्टं समग्रालोकहारिणः ।
रिपवः प्रौढिमायाता अपूर्वतिमिरभ्रमाः ॥ ५ ॥

sabāhyābhyantaraṃ kaṣṭaṃ samagrālokahāriṇaḥ |
ripavaḥ prauḍhimāyātā apūrvatimirabhramāḥ || 5 ||

Woe unto us! that are so miserable in both our inward and outward circumstances; and happy are our enemies of light (Devas), that have their ascendency over us. O the terrors of darkness!
