The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

आत्मनैव प्रयत्नेन यावदात्मावलोकने ।
न कृतोऽनुग्रहस्तावन्न विचारोदयो भवेत् ॥ ५९ ॥

ātmanaiva prayatnena yāvadātmāvalokane |
na kṛto'nugrahastāvanna vicārodayo bhavet || 59 ||

You can not be said to have your right reasoning, so long as you do not come to the light and sight of the soul, both by your own exertion and grace of the Supreme Spirit.
