The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

बलिवत्प्रविवेकेन नित्योऽहमिति निश्चयात् ।
पदमासादयाद्वैतं पौरुषेणैव राघव ॥ ४० ॥

balivatpravivekena nityo'hamiti niścayāt |
padamāsādayādvaitaṃ pauruṣeṇaiva rāghava || 40 ||

Learn as Bali did by his own discernment, to think yourself as the immortal and everlasting soul; and try to reach to the state of your oneness or solity with the Supreme Unity, by your manliness.
