The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.24.27

उच्यते दैवशब्देन सा नरैरेव नेतरैः ।
यद्यस्येह यदा यत्र संपन्नं समतां गतम् ॥ २७ ॥

ucyate daivaśabdena sā naraireva netaraiḥ |
yadyasyeha yadā yatra saṃpannaṃ samatāṃ gatam || 27 ||

The word destiny is used also by mankind, to mean an accident over which they have no control, and to which they submit with passive obedience.
