The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.22.41

भोगादृते किमन्यत्स्यात्तद्भव्यमविनाशि यत् ।
एवं संचिन्तयाम्याशु दध्यौ मत्वेत्यसौ बलिः ॥ ४१ ॥

bhogādṛte kimanyatsyāttadbhavyamavināśi yat |
evaṃ saṃcintayāmyāśu dadhyau matvetyasau baliḥ || 41 ||

What can our actions bring forth, beside the objects of sensible gratification? They cannot bring about anything that is imperishable. Saying so, Bali fell in a trance of his profound meditation.
