The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.22.21

प्रतापोग्रोष्मभिर्यस्य कल्पकाल इवाब्धयः ।
ययुः शोषोन्मुखाः सप्त सप्ततां कुपिताकृतेः ॥ २१ ॥

pratāpogroṣmabhiryasya kalpakāla ivābdhayaḥ |
yayuḥ śoṣonmukhāḥ sapta saptatāṃ kupitākṛteḥ || 21 ||

The intense heat of his valour, dried up the waters of the septuple oceans of the earth; and turned them to seven dry beds, as under the fire of the universal Conflagration.
