The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

अस्त्यस्मिञ्जगतः कोशे कस्मिंश्चिद्दिङ्निकुञ्जके ।
पातालमिति विख्यातो लोको भूमेरधः स्थितः ॥ ८ ॥

astyasmiñjagataḥ kośe kasmiṃściddiṅnikuñjake |
pātālamiti vikhyāto loko bhūmeradhaḥ sthitaḥ || 8 ||

There is in the womb of this earth, and in some particular part of it, a place called the infernal region, which is situated below this earth.
