Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

आशापाशशतोन्मुक्तः समः सर्वासु वृत्तिषु ।
बहिः प्रकृतिकार्यस्थो लोके विहर राघव ॥ २६ ॥

āśāpāśaśatonmuktaḥ samaḥ sarvāsu vṛttiṣu |
bahiḥ prakṛtikāryastho loke vihara rāghava || 26 ||
