The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.15.18

नोन्मत्तापि जरा चक्षुस्तथा जरयति क्षणात् ।
यथा जरयति क्षामा तृष्णा हृदयरूपिका ॥ १८ ॥

nonmattāpi jarā cakṣustathā jarayati kṣaṇāt |
yathā jarayati kṣāmā tṛṣṇā hṛdayarūpikā || 18 ||

Men are not so much blinded by their aged and decayed eyesight, as they are blinded by the invisible avarice seated in their hearts.
