The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

आत्मनो व्यतिरिक्तं सच्चित्तमित्यङ्ग संविदा ।
मनः संपद्यते दुःखि क्षीयते त्यक्तया तया ॥ ५७ ॥
ātmano vyatiriktaṃ saccittamityaṅga saṃvidā |
manaḥ saṃpadyate duḥkhi kṣīyate tyaktayā tayā || 57 ||
The Knowledge, that intellection or thinking power is distinct from the soul, introduces the existence of the unhappy mind, which must be got rid of for the sake of true happiness.
