The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.14.15

कः किलात्र कुतः खेदो यन्मूर्खः परितप्यते ।
दुःखायैव हि जायन्ते करभाः प्राकृतास्तथा ॥ १५ ॥

kaḥ kilātra kutaḥ khedo yanmūrkhaḥ paritapyate |
duḥkhāyaiva hi jāyante karabhāḥ prākṛtāstathā || 15 ||

But why should I sorrow for the ignorant rabble, who bring their woe by their own error? The common herd is born to their misery like beasts and brutes.
