The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.13.58

अतः शास्त्रविचारेण वैराग्येण परेण च ।
निग्रहेणेन्द्रियाणां च बोधयेत्कलनां स्वयम् ॥ ५८ ॥

ataḥ śāstravicāreṇa vairāgyeṇa pareṇa ca |
nigraheṇendriyāṇāṃ ca bodhayetkalanāṃ svayam || 58 ||

So it is to be wakened by means of instruction, derived from the sastras and preceptors; as also by the practice of dispassionateness, and subjection of the organs of sense and action.
