The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.13.55

चित्तमित्येव रूढेयं यदैव कलनोदिता ।
तदैव चित्त्वं विस्मृत्य सा जडेव व्यवस्थिता ॥ ५५ ॥

cittamityeva rūḍheyaṃ yadaiva kalanoditā |
tadaiva cittvaṃ vismṛtya sā jaḍeva vyavasthitā || 55 ||

With its two distinct powers of imagination and volition, it is employed in the acts of discriminating and choosing the agreeable from what is disagreeable to it.
