The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.13.52

यश्चित्तफणिकूत्कारः सैवेयं कलनोच्यते ।
चिदेवाहमिति ज्ञात्वा सा चित्तामेव गच्छति ॥ ५२ ॥

yaścittaphaṇikūtkāraḥ saiveyaṃ kalanocyate |
cidevāhamiti jñātvā sā cittāmeva gacchati || 52 ||

The breathing (or vibration) of the mind, like the hissing of a snake, is called its imagination (kalpana); but by knowing the intellect as the Ego, it comes to the true knowledge of the inward soul.
