The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.13.30

धावमानमधोभागे चित्तं प्रत्याहरेद्बलात् ।
प्रत्याहारेण पतितमधो वारीव सेतुना ॥ ३० ॥

dhāvamānamadhobhāge cittaṃ pratyāharedbalāt |
pratyāhāreṇa patitamadho vārīva setunā || 30 ||

The mind running to meanness, is to be repressed by restraining the passions and appetites; as the current of water running below, is stopped by its lock gate.
