The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.13.18

एतावदेवातितमो यदहंभावभावनम् ।
तस्मिंश्च शममानीते प्रकाश उपजायते ॥ १८ ॥

etāvadevātitamo yadahaṃbhāvabhāvanam |
tasmiṃśca śamamānīte prakāśa upajāyate || 18 ||

It is the greatest ignorance to think of one's egoism (or self-personality); this thought being relaxed by the sense of our nothingness, gives room to the manifestation of holy light in the soul.
