The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.9.53

अकृत्रिममहादुःखे संसारे ये व्यवस्थिताः ।
त एतेऽन्यानि दुःखानि जानते मधुराण्यलम् ॥ ५३ ॥

akṛtrimamahāduḥkhe saṃsāre ye vyavasthitāḥ |
ta ete'nyāni duḥkhāni jānate madhurāṇyalam || 53 ||

Those who have not fallen in the midst and been altogether drowned in woe, think the lesser woes as light and delight, as one condemned to be beheaded, is glad to escape with a light punishment.
