The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.9.51

वरमेकान्तदाहेषु लुठनं रौरवाग्निषु ।
नत्वालूनविवर्तासु स्थितं संसारवृत्तिषु ॥ ५१ ॥

varamekāntadāheṣu luṭhanaṃ rauravāgniṣu |
natvālūnavivartāsu sthitaṃ saṃsāravṛttiṣu || 51 ||

It is better to roll in the continual flame of hell-fire to which one is habituated, than rise and fall repeatedly in the furnace of this world, as from the frying pan into the fire.
