The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

काकतालीययोगेन संपन्नायां जगत्स्थितौ ।
धूर्तेन कल्पिता व्यर्थं हेयोपादेयभावना ॥ ४ ॥

kākatālīyayogena saṃpannāyāṃ jagatsthitau |
dhūrtena kalpitā vyarthaṃ heyopādeyabhāvanā || 4 ||

Hence he saw the flights of birds, flying at random in different directions; and reflected on the hurrying of men in the same manner, and thus bewailed in himself on their deplorable conditions.
