The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.6.1

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
इमं विश्वपरिस्पन्दं करोमीत्यस्तवासनम् ।
प्रवर्तते यः कार्येषु स मुक्त इति मे मतिः ॥ १ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
imaṃ viśvaparispandaṃ karomītyastavāsanam |
pravartate yaḥ kāryeṣu sa mukta iti me matiḥ || 1 ||

Vasishtha continued:—In my opinion, a man is liberated who does his works from a sense of his duty, and without any desire of his own or sense of his own agency in it.
