The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.53.27

स्वयं संकल्पनामात्रं जायते बालयक्षवत् ।
अनन्तायात्मदुःखाय नानन्दाय कदाचन ॥ २७ ॥

svayaṃ saṃkalpanāmātraṃ jāyate bālayakṣavat |
anantāyātmaduḥkhāya nānandāya kadācana || 27 ||

But it is born and reborn by its repeated desires, as the child sees the ghost by its constant fear of it.
