The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.49.8

मग्नोन्मग्नैः प्रतिस्कन्धमाश्रितैश्चमरैः सितैः ।
पूर्णं मुहुर्दृष्टनष्टैः संवत्सरमिवेन्दुभिः ॥ ८ ॥

magnonmagnaiḥ pratiskandhamāśritaiścamaraiḥ sitaiḥ |
pūrṇaṃ muhurdṛṣṭanaṣṭaiḥ saṃvatsaramivendubhiḥ || 8 ||

The white chowry deer with half of their bodies hidden under the coverts of the woods, and their fore parts appearing without the thickets, appeared as so many moons with their dark and bright sides in the sky.
