The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

उत्थायावश्यकं कृत्वा पाश्चात्यं पितुरादरात् ।
चकार तपसे बुद्धिं दृढामुत्तमसिद्धये ॥ २९ ॥

utthāyāvaśyakaṃ kṛtvā pāścātyaṃ piturādarāt |
cakāra tapase buddhiṃ dṛḍhāmuttamasiddhaye || 29 ||

He rose up and performed the funeral ceremonies of his sire, with devoutness of his heart; and then set his mind to the success of his steady devotion.
