The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

मातापितृवियोगेन शोकसंतापिताशयः ।
म्लानिमभ्याययौ नूनं हेमन्त इव पङ्कजम् ॥ २२ ॥

mātāpitṛviyogena śokasaṃtāpitāśayaḥ |
mlānimabhyāyayau nūnaṃ hemanta iva paṅkajam || 22 ||

Being bereft of both his parents, he was full of sorrow and grief in his mind; and then he began to fade away as the lotus blossom in winter.
