Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

अनन्तानि जगन्त्यस्मिन्ब्रह्मतत्त्वमहाम्बरे ।
अम्भोधिवीचिजलवन्निमज्जन्त्युद्भवन्ति च ॥ १४ ॥

anantāni jagantyasminbrahmatattvamahāmbare |
ambhodhivīcijalavannimajjantyudbhavanti ca || 14 ||

There are innumerable worlds scattered in the vacuum of Brahma's essence, and they are all rolling up and down like waves in the ocean.
