The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

श्रीराम उवाच ।
क्रमेणानेन येनाप्ता जीवेन स्थितिरात्मनः ।
स कथं भगवन्देहं समाधत्तेऽस्थिपञ्जरम् ॥ १ ॥

śrīrāma uvāca |
krameṇānena yenāptā jīvena sthitirātmanaḥ |
sa kathaṃ bhagavandehaṃ samādhatte'sthipañjaram || 1 ||

Rama asked said:—I understand now how the particles of the Divine Spirit, take the forms of the living souls; but I cannot conceive how it assumes the corporeal body composed of bones and ribs.
