The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.41.30

आत्मज्ञानादृते तच्च शास्त्रार्थात्समवाप्यते ।
अविद्यासरितः पारमात्मलाभादृते किल ॥ ३० ॥

ātmajñānādṛte tacca śāstrārthātsamavāpyate |
avidyāsaritaḥ pāramātmalābhādṛte kila || 30 ||

It is possible to gain the knowledge of the soul from the sastras, without one's self-consciousness of it; as it is possible to get over the sea of ignorance, by means of spiritual knowledge.
