The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

यथा मदवशादात्मा सोऽन्यवत्प्रतिभासते ।
तथैव चित्त्वाच्चिद्धातुः स एवाऽस इव स्थितः ॥ ५ ॥

yathā madavaśādātmā so'nyavatpratibhāsate |
tathaiva cittvācciddhātuḥ sa evā'sa iva sthitaḥ || 5 ||

As the calm soul seems to be giddy in the state of one's drunkenness, so the essence of the intellect which is always the same, appears as otherwise in its ignorance.
