The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.36.18

स्वयं स्वकलनाभोगादनन्तं पदमुज्झता ।
अहमस्मीति भावेन गच्छता ज्ञपदं शनैः ॥ १८ ॥

svayaṃ svakalanābhogādanantaṃ padamujjhatā |
ahamasmīti bhāvena gacchatā jñapadaṃ śanaiḥ || 18 ||

It is led by its own error and of its own accord, to forget and forsake its state of infinitude;and then by assuming its individual personality of egoism (that I am), it is converted to an ignoramus.
