223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.35.55

तदनादि शिवं ज्ञानं यन्मध्यं द्रष्टृदृश्ययोः ।
तस्मिन्सत्ये मनः शान्तं पांसुर्वायुक्षये यथा ॥ ५५ ॥

tadanādi śivaṃ jñānaṃ yanmadhyaṃ draṣṭṛdṛśyayoḥ |
tasminsatye manaḥ śāntaṃ pāṃsurvāyukṣaye yathā || 55 ||

Rely on that eternal Spirit, which is infinite knowledge and felicity, and which is between the viewer and the view (i.e. betwixt the noumenon and the phenomenon). The mind being fixed to that truth, will adhere to it as clay, after the swiftness of its flight is at an end.
