The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.35.23

नात्मा संसारिपुरुषो न शरीरं न शोणितम् ।
जडं सर्वं शरीरादि देही स्ववदलेपकः ॥ २३ ॥

nātmā saṃsāripuruṣo na śarīraṃ na śoṇitam |
jaḍaṃ sarvaṃ śarīrādi dehī svavadalepakaḥ || 23 ||

The soul is not the man of the world (i.e. no worldly being), nor is it the body or its blood. All material bodies are but gross and dull matter; but the soul in the body is empty air and intangible.
