The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

कष्टीकृतमतिर्लोकः संकटेष्वेव मज्जति ।
अनया दुरहंकृत्या भावात्संसक्तया चिरम् ॥ ५६ ॥

kaṣṭīkṛtamatirlokaḥ saṃkaṭeṣveva majjati |
anayā durahaṃkṛtyā bhāvātsaṃsaktayā ciram || 56 ||

Possest with this wrong notion of himself, every man is incessantly troubled in his mind by various desires, which expose him to all the evils of life.
