The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.33.49

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
त्रिविधो राघवास्तीह त्वहंकारो जगत्त्रये ।
द्वौ श्रेष्ठावितरस्त्याज्यः श्रृणु त्वं कथयामि ते ॥ ४९ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
trividho rāghavāstīha tvahaṃkāro jagattraye |
dvau śreṣṭhāvitarastyājyaḥ śrṛṇu tvaṃ kathayāmi te || 49 ||

Vasishtha replied:—There are three sorts of egoism, Rama! in this triple world, two of which are of superior nature, but the third is of a vile kind and is to be abandoned by all.
