The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.33.12

अशमः परमं ब्रह्म शमश्च परमं पदम् ।
यद्यप्येवं तथाप्येनं प्रथमं विद्धि शंकरम् ॥ १२ ॥

aśamaḥ paramaṃ brahma śamaśca paramaṃ padam |
yadyapyevaṃ tathāpyenaṃ prathamaṃ viddhi śaṃkaram || 12 ||

Though it is difficult to know the Supreme Brahma, and facile to attain supreme felicity;yet should Brahma be sought at first, as the giver of all felicity.
