The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.32.53

इदं विचार्यतां शास्त्रमस्त्रमापन्निवारणम् ।
रणे शितशरश्रेणिशतनिर्लूनवारणे ॥ ५३ ॥

idaṃ vicāryatāṃ śāstramastramāpannivāraṇam |
raṇe śitaśaraśreṇiśatanirlūnavāraṇe || 53 ||

Why do you endanger your life in the muddy pit of this world, like an elephant falling in a pitfall under the keen arrows of the enemy? Avoid only to taste of its enjoyments, and you are free from all danger.
