The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.30.11

तत्र ते करुणाक्रन्दाः ससुहृद्दारबन्धवः ।
प्रदग्धाः पर्णविटपा वृक्षा इव वनानिलैः ॥ ११ ॥

tatra te karuṇākrandāḥ sasuhṛddārabandhavaḥ |
pradagdhāḥ parṇaviṭapā vṛkṣā iva vanānilaiḥ || 11 ||

There they lay burning with their wives and children, until they were consumed to death, like a straw-hut and withered trees.
