The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.30.8

धर्मराजोऽथ तं देशं कदाचित्समुपाययौ ।
महानरककार्याणां विचारार्थं यदृच्छया ॥ ८ ॥

dharmarājo'tha taṃ deśaṃ kadācitsamupāyayau |
mahānarakakāryāṇāṃ vicārārthaṃ yadṛcchayā || 8 ||

It happened on one occasion that yama said:—the god of retributive justice, gave his call to that spot, in order to survey the state of affairs in the doleful pits of hell.
