The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.24.12

सुहृदुत्तमविश्वासान्मनो मन्ये मनीषिणाम् ।
स्वालोकितः शास्त्रदृशा बुद्ध्यान्तः स्वानुभावितः ॥ १२ ॥

suhṛduttamaviśvāsānmano manye manīṣiṇām |
svālokitaḥ śāstradṛśā buddhyāntaḥ svānubhāvitaḥ || 12 ||

The wife is loved for her endearments, and the father is revered for his protection of the child. A friend is valued by his confidence, and the mind for its wisdom.
